Join Randall Warniers for a talk on the "enduring Greatness of Jane Austen", in celebration of the 250th anniversary of her birth!

Jane Austen was born in Hampshire, England on December 16, 1775, the seventh child (out of eight) in a family headed by an Anglican minister. She grew up in a lively and creative house, and wrote plays and stories for the amusement of her family. Between 1811 and 1817 she published six novels, the last two published posthumously after her early death in 1817. Today her novels are adored around the world for their intelligence, wit, and wise understanding of human behavior and the confining rules of Georgian society.

This talk will summarize her life and work, and explain why reading a Jane Austen novel continues to be rewarding today.
