About the Artist:

Lucinda Hamilton is a Massachusetts-based artist whose paintings honor the ordinary beauty of the everyday and a belief that life's richness comes from the smallest daily moments. Inspired by the nature that surrounds her, be it her garden or the coastal life of New England, she invites viewers to reflect on places and experiences that bring comfort, hope, and connection. Her work has been featured in juried shows across the region, including those of the New England Watercolor Society, Newburyport Art Association, and Rockport Art Association, and her works are part of private collections nationwide.

Exhibition Statement:

Summer is the season I look back on most fondly over the years. I think about summer road trips and vacations, sunny days spent with family, and the feeling of freedom and possibility that seems to exist only during that time of year. It is also the season when, in my opinion, the New England landscape is at its most beautiful, filled with warmth, light, and life.

The paintings in Summer Memories are from photos of places that hold deep personal meaning for me: the neighborhoods where I grew up in Pennsylvania, my home in Massachusetts, the beaches of Maine, and the Sonoran Desert in Tucson, Arizona, where I spent summers visiting my grandparents as a child. Much of this work comes from a desire to preserve the emotional texture of memory. As life changes and I navigate both the wonder of raising a young daughter and the reality of an aging family, painting has become a way of staying present and paying closer attention to the moments that matter.

In a world that often feels loud and moves too fast, these paintings come from a quieter place. They are reflections on gentleness, nostalgia, and the importance of slowing down long enough to notice beauty in ordinary moments. Through this collection, I hope viewers are reminded of their own meaningful places - the memories that sustain us and continue to feel like home.
