Innovative Currents: Outdoor Learning in K-8 Education
Tuesday, December 105:30—7:30 PMGoodwin ForumMain Library129 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742
Join us for a unique opportunity to reflect on our educational systems, observe progressive initiatives in Concord, and explore innovative opportunities ahead. It invites the community to come together, think creatively, and gain insights from an expert panel with diverse perspectives. Just as our founders once gathered to consider the role of education in our democracy, this presentation aims to unite us in contemplating the role of education in our community. We will hear from educators who use more holistic approaches that increase access to the outdoors. Then we will discuss the impact of exercise and sunlight on learning, the benefits and challenges of teaching outside, and the potential for these factors to converge and optimize social, emotional, cognitive, and academic growth.
This event will feature Rivers and Revolutions Educators from CCHS (including Will Kemeza, James O’Shea, Agatha Wozniak, Ashley Cohane, and Tracie Dunn) and Angel Charles, Director of Student Services for Concord-Carlisle Regional School District in discussion with Eavan Miles Mason, Ph.D. (Neuropsychologist, KidCentered, Concord, MA).
Presented in partnership with Concord-Carlisle Regional SEPAC in partnership with the following co-sponsors: Emerson Dental, KidCenterED, Fusion Academy, Waldorf School of Lexington, Saltbox Kitchen, Concord Public and Concord-Carlisle Regional School Districts, CCHS Parent Association, Carlisle SEPAC, LEXSEPTA/SEPAC, and Lincoln SEPAC.
