Week one of an eight week workshop with Julia Bucci, PhD and Alex Bucci

Open to LGBTQ+ Adults & Allies, age 60+

Meetings: Saturdays 10:00am - 12:00pm, April 13 - June 1

In this eight-week course designed for older (age 60+) members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies, students will write and share stories exploring the moments and events, big and small, that have shaped their lives. Led by Julia Bucci and Alex Bucci, each two-hour session will provide writing exercises, small group brainstorms, and reading of short excerpts from compelling memoirs by queer writers across the decades. Homework assignments will invite you to try new techniques to get your stories down on paper. No previous writing experience required.

Julia Bucci is a writer and teacher. As a Moth storyteller and educator, Julia believes in the power and importance of sharing our true stories. Julia teaches English at Dana Hall School in Wellesley. Outside of teaching, Julia is a screenwriter with current projects including In Transit, a biopic about the world’s first medically-altered trans man, and Bedlam, a tv pilot about a queer DJ in Boston at the dawn of disco. Julia earned a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of Chicago and a PhD in English from UMass Amherst.

Alex Bucci is a small business owner. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lesley University, where his pioneering coursework focused on care for transgender children. Alex’s current writing projects include a memoir about, among other things, his life as a trans man.
