The Concord Free Public Library is pleased to present a selection of materials from the newly acquired Bicknell Collection and Mather Collection, as well as items from the holdings of the William Munroe Special Collections. Taken together, they constitute a sweeping array of material demonstrating the breadth of the Alcott family’s impact in the 19th century and the enduring influence of their work and ideas. These items include correspondence, manuscripts, ephemera, artwork, and rare editions.
The William Munroe Special Collections expresses its profound gratitude to the Concord Free Public Library Corporation and its donors, the Munroe Society, and to Timothy Mather for their extraordinary generosity in strengthening the Library’s Alcott Family holdings.
