Wednesday, July 2410:00—11:00 AMFowler Branch (1322 Main St.)Fowler Library1322 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742

Join Fowler Afoot on the fourth Wednesday of the month. We will meet at the Fowler Branch Library at 10 am, and then walk together on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will meet inside. The plan is to walk the trail for about twenty minutes and then turn around. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.

For July, as part of RiverFest 2024 we will join The Sudbury, Assabet and Concord River Stewardship Council to celebrate our "Wild and Scenic Rivers" by reading Robert M. Thorson's 2017 book, The Boatman: Henry David Thoreau's River Years. Thoreau studied these rivers and witnessed the impact of human changes including dams, canals and bridges. From his bedroom window, he had a view of the Sudbury River, and his journals, notebooks and correspondence reveal a lifelong enjoyment of boating, swimming, skating, and walking along the Concord, Sudbury and Assabet Rivers. Copies of the book are available for pick up at Fowler Library.

Registration for this event has now closed.
