Fowler Afoot: A Walking Book Club

Wednesday, April 310:00—11:00 AMFowler Branch (1322 Main St.)Fowler Library1322 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742

Instead of meeting on March 27, Fowler Afoot will be meeting, one week later, on April 3.  We will gather at the Fowler Branch Library at 10 am, and then walk together on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. The plan is to walk the trail for about twenty minutes and then turn around. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will meet inside.

Rachel Carson (1907-1964) was a science writer and biologist for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. We will be discussing her book, Silent Spring, "the classic that launched the environmental movement," when it was first published just over sixty years ago. Its publication led to to further study and then the banning of the pesticide, DDT. Copies are available for pick up at Fowler. Both the ebook and audiobook are available to download on Hoopla.
