Fowler Afoot: A Walking Book Club

Wednesday, August 2410:00—11:00 AMFowler Branch (1322 Main St.)Fowler Library1322 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742

Get outside with Fowler Afoot as we walk and talk about books the fourth Wednesday morning of every month. We will meet at the Fowler Branch Library at 10 AM and walk over together to the Main Street entrance of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail.

Our next selection is The Hummingbirds’ Gift: Wonder, Beauty, and Renewal on Wings by the New Hampshire author and naturalist, Sy Montgomery. When a hummingbird rehabilitator from California, invited Montgomery to observe and help her care for two orphaned baby hummingbirds until they could be released, Montgomery jumped at the chance. In this short book, she shares that miraculous story, as well as fascinating facts about these small, fragile, beautiful birds that can fly backward, upside down and hover. Fowler has copies available for checkout and the ebook and audiobook are available on Libby.

For more on Sy Montgomery, you might also want to read or listen to her 2018 memoir, How to be a Good Creature, which is also available in the network and instantly on Hoopla as both an ebook and audiobook, along with a some of her other books.

Lace up your sneakers and join us on the trail!
