Films at Fowler: Fearless Features Discussion - Extra Added Attraction

Wednesday, November 177:00—8:30 PMZoom

We are continuing the Films at Fowler program in November with one more film in the fall series Fearless Features. Please watch—on your own time schedule—the charming 1961 Ermanno Olmi comedy “Il Posto” on Kanopy, a free streaming service available to Library patrons. This film is in Italian with English subtitles. The Zoom discussion of “Il Posto” on Wednesday November 17 at 7 p.m. will be part of a larger tribute to the masterpieces of cinema that emerged from war-torn Italy in the 1940s, ‘50s, and 60s.

Il Posto (1961)
“Il Posto” is a simple story of a young man who finds a job in a large impersonal corporation in Milan, and how his life changes in this new adult world. It is a stunningly confident first feature, made in six weeks with non-professional actors and on a very tight budget. The film is an important addition to the many successes of Italian neorealism in the 1940s and ‘50s. It is also very much in the freewheeling creative spirit of French New Wave movies by François Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, and Jean-Luc Godard.

Please watch Il Posto on Kanopy before the discussion.
