Professor Robert Gross will discuss turning-points in his research for The Minutemen and Their World and The Transcendentalists and Their World, when he discovered previously unknown or unstudied documents in Concord’s Special Collections.
Robert A. Gross is the author of two books about Concord: The Minutemen and Their World, first published in 1976 and recipient of the Bancroft Prize, and The Transcendentalists and Their World, published in 2021. The Minutemen and Their World is being published in a revised and expanded edition this November 2022, and The Transcendentalists and Their World is appearing at the same time in paperback, both from Picador book . A social and cultural historian, he taught at Amherst College, the College of William and Mary, and the University of Connecticut before retiring to Concord in 2015.
Anke Voss joined the Concord Free Public Library staff as the new Curator for the William Munroe Special Collections in early October 2019. Anke received both a B.A. in History and an M.A. in United States Political, Social, and Women’s History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Anke completed her Master's Degree in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Archives and Preservation Management at the State University of New York at Albany.
