Join us for a LIVE CFA 2021 Conversation with celebrated new novelists Lisa Braxton, author of The Talking Drum, Julie Carrick Dalton, Waiting for the Night Song, and Dariel Suarez, The Playwright’s House.

Lisa Braxton is the author of the novel, The Talking Drum, winner of a 2021 Independent Publisher (IPPY) Book Awards Gold Medal, overall winner of Shelf Unbound book review magazine’s 2020 Independently Published Book Award, winner of a 2020 Outstanding Literary Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, and a Finalist for the International Book Awards. In addition to being a novelist, she is an Emmy-nominated former television journalist, an essayist, and short story writer. She lives in Weymouth, MA.

Julie Carrick Dalton debut novel WAITING FOR THE NIGHT SONG was named a Most Anticipated 2021 book by CNN, Newsweek, Parade, and USA Today, and was an Amazon Book of the Month. A Bread Loaf, Tin House, and GrubStreet Novel Incubator alum, she speaks and teaches about the intersection of fiction and climate crisis at universities, literary conferences, and book festivals. Dariel Suarez was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1997 at age fourteen. He is the author of the novel The Playwright’s House and the story collection A Kind of Solitude, winner of the International Latino Book Award for Best Collection of Short Stories. Dariel is an inaugural City of Boston Artist Fellow and the Education Director at GrubStreet. His work has received the First Lady Cecile de Jongh Literary Prize and will be anthologized in this year’s Best American Essays.
