The Library's Girls Who Code club is part of a national non-profit that aims to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does. Each year, they meet weekly to learn coding languages like HTML, CSS, and Python, build relationships with peers and role models in a safe, supportive environment, and work together to design and complete community-oriented projects that matter to them.

This year's cohort created this display Code for the Wild as a multimedia presentation to spread awareness about local threatened and endangered species. Each girl in the program chose a native Massachusetts endangered species to study and recreate as a stuffed animal using discarded clothing and other upcycled materials. Each stuffed animal is also accompanied by a QR code to a website coded by its maker, containing facts and photos about their chosen species.
