Author Talks with the Concord Women Writers: Biographies & Creative Nonfiction

Wednesday, March 136:00—7:30 PMGoodwin ForumMain Library129 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742

Each week of Women's History Month, the library is showcasing authors from Concord Women Writers to share their work and experience as women creators. Join us for week two of this delightful series with biographer Kelly Matthews and creative nonfiction writer Cathy Schen. Concord Women Writers, a group of published authors from the Boston Area, have been meeting monthly for almost fifteen years to encourage one another in a field that hasn't historically favored women.

Kelly Matthews, Ph.D., is a Professor of English at Framingham State University, a Past President of the American Conference for Irish Studies, and the biographer of Irish playwright Brian Friel.

Cathy Schen, M.D., is a psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and has published on topics ranging from mothers who leave their children behind, the ethics of writing about patients, the restorative aspects of farming, and Willa Cather's search for belonging. Cathy will read from her work Without a Trace: A Life with Oil.
