Join local author John Hanson Mitchell for a reading from his new novel, The Sweet Revenge of Marcus Aurelius: Based on the True Story of a Slave Who Sold his Master. 

John Hanson Mitchell is best known for a series of books known as the Scratch Flat Chronicles in which he uses a single square mile of land to examine his continuing interest in the interrelationship between nature and human cultures. Other books deal with historical gardens and travel. Looking for Mr Gilbert describes his discovery of the first African-American landscape photographer. It was while researching that book that Mitchell discovered the story of the slave who managed to sell his own master. Learn more the author and his work at Mitchell's website.
